Personal Brand Engine

Six skills extracted from running a daily content engine across nine businesses. This is the system that lets you ship every weekday for a year without writing a single thing the day-of.

Who this is for

  • Coaches and consultants who know they "should be posting more"
  • Agency owners trying to build a founder brand alongside the agency
  • Anyone burned out by the daily blank page

What's inside

01. The Idea Bank

A single Notion database (or notes app folder) with one row per idea. Schema:

  • Idea — one sentence
  • Format — short / long / thread / carousel / video
  • Source — book, conversation, lived experience, contrarian observation
  • Trigger — what reminded you of this (the more specific, the better)
  • Status — raw / sharpened / scheduled / shipped

Add to the bank every time you have a thought worth keeping. Never write content from scratch — always pull from the bank.

The bank should always have 50+ raw ideas. If it dips below, your weekly content meeting is broken.

02. The Sharpening Pass

Once a week, set aside 30 minutes:

  1. Pull 10 raw ideas from the bank
  2. Rewrite each idea as a one-sentence hook — the line you'd put first if this were the whole post
  3. Mark the top 5 as "sharpened"
  4. The other 5 go back into raw for next week

This is the only "writing" you do all week. Everything else is the production line on already-sharpened ideas.

03. The Format Template Library

For each format you publish in, build ONE template and reuse it:

  • Short post — Hook (1 line) · Body (3 lines) · Question (1 line)
  • Long post — Hook (1 line) · 3-paragraph body · CTA
  • Thread — Hook tweet · 5-7 tweets in single-thought blocks · Final CTA tweet
  • Carousel — Slide 1 hook · Slides 2-9 one idea each · Slide 10 CTA
  • Video — Hook (0-3s) · Setup (3-10s) · Lesson (10-50s) · CTA (50-60s)

Templates are not constraints — they're scaffolds. The 80% that's structural is automatic. You only think about the 20% that's the idea.

04. The Weekly Production Block

Monday morning, two hours:

  • 8:00–9:00 — Sharpening pass + select 5 ideas for the week (one per weekday)
  • 9:00–10:00 — Write all 5 posts using the templates

You now have a week of content done by 10am Monday. Every other day is repurposing.

05. The Repurpose Tree

Each main post can become 3-5 derivative posts on other platforms:

Main post (LinkedIn long-form)
├── Twitter thread (same idea, broken into 7 tweets)
├── Instagram carousel (same idea, broken into 10 slides)
├── 60-second video (same idea, said out loud)
└── Newsletter section (same idea, expanded by 200 words)

You wrote it once. It runs five times.

06. The Friday Audit

Five minutes on Friday afternoon:

  • Which post got the most engagement this week?
  • Which got the least?
  • What's the pattern?
  • Add that pattern to the Idea Bank as a "what works for me" note

After eight weeks of audits, you'll have a personal style guide built from data, not theory.

How to install

  1. Set up the Idea Bank — Notion, Apple Notes, even a single Google Sheet. Schema matters more than tool.
  2. Block Monday 8:00–10:00 as "Content Production" — recurring weekly.
  3. Pick ONE format to start. (LinkedIn long-form is the highest-leverage for most people.)
  4. Run the system for two weeks before adding a second format.

Why this works

The reason people stop posting is never lack of ideas. It's the cost of starting each day with a blank page. This system separates the thinking (sharpening) from the production (writing) from the distribution (posting). You only burn cognitive energy on the thinking — and you do it once a week, not five times.

Stack 50 Mondays and you've shipped 250 pieces of content. That's enough volume to build a real audience.
